Compass Arts in the Community!
From April through October, Compass Arts runs free arts activity tables at community events, including the Beacon and Newburgh Farmers Markets; the Beacon Back 2 School Block Party; and Spirit of Beacon Day.
We are proud of our collaborations with other local nonprofits and public services. Among our past and present program partners are Head Start, Fareground, Dutchess County Office for the Aging, Mid Hudson Proud Families, and Howland Chamber Music Circle.
Compass Arts Activities and "Flow"
Have you ever sat down to a creative task, and completely lost track of time? This experience is referred to by psychologists as a state of “flow,” defined as the mental state of being completely present and fully immersed in a task.
And the potential for this “flow” is exactly what we intend to create with our community activities! Whether you are mesmerized by a particularly rich hue of paint, caught up in the process of tinkering with interesting materials, or simply lost in a state of wonder, our community activities encourage you to jump into the process. We love the idea of normalizing this experience in everyday places such as the farmer’s market and other community events, and can’t wait to see what YOU will make, create, and explore.
Activities are designed for folks of all ages, and include but are not limited to: painting, musical instrument exploration, loose parts tinkering, exploration of art concepts such as symmetry, improv, theater games, and more!Join us at to experience the magic for yourself.
